About Mopgel

Movement for the Promotion of Gender Equality in Liberia (MOPGEL) is a tax-exempt non-profit organization under section 501 (c 3) of the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS code. MOPGEL’s core object is “Gender equality”, working to achieve women’s equality in a society where women and men can participate effectively as citizens in all aspects of social, cultural, economic, and political life.

 

 

Our mission

At MOPGEL, we work with community and traditional leaders to transform gendered norms and practices that are forms of discrimination, which impede the human rights of individuals, primarily women and girls. Those issues arise from gender inequality and discriminatory values, which lead to unequal power relations in communities and societies that lead to violence against women and girls
